ReplyDeleteI am handling English for classes IX to XII. While teaching in the class it is necessary for a teacher to know his/her students very well and be clear about learning objectives. Students must be given them a sense of control to learn in a threat free environment. As a part of peer group learning, positive competitions can be used offering students varied experiences and even students can be awarded suitably as and when required to instigate the learning process. Students who are bright and grasp faster should be given the responsibility to ensure the upliftment of his fellow students in a group task. This will lead to holistic learning outcome for all.

I'm teaching class 11 and 12 Biology. While teaching, teachers must make sure that the students get the chance to assess their friends while learning. By providing their valuable and honest feedback by the student, both of them Will learn and improve each other in various ways

ReplyDeleteWhile teaching class IX English, I asked the students to prepare a PPT on Natural Calamities. The class was divided into groups. Each group was asked to present their topic in the class. The other students had to assess the group. There was a healthy competition among the students as the peers tried to appreciate and even point out what could have been added. The brighter students took the lead and this helped the others to participate. The students were able to read about the topic, voice their opinions, write about it and developed awareness about their surroundings. They became good listeners.
ReplyDeleteI also divide the class into groups and give them research based activities. For example I GAVE MY STUDENTS TO RESEARCH THE MEANINGS OF THE TITLES of textbooks of class xii English( Hornbill and Vistas ) and told them to write why they think their textbooks are titled that way. The group work was peer reviewed and students enjoyed it thoroughly.

ReplyDeleteI teach English in Senior Secondary Classes. I have used this tool many a times on verbal method. It gives an unique opportunity for improvement of the assessor and assessee both. While the Assessor also unknowingly does his/her own assessment while assessing the peer, he/she also develops on the qualities of observation, review, expression etc. the week points of the peer also come out which immensely helps the students and teacher both.

ReplyDeleteI asked students of class 9th to prepare PPT/model on cells and tissues. Students were asked to work in groups. Each group of students were to discuss and work on their project. Other students had to analyze and assess the work of each group. Students listened to their peers and accepted their supportive and critical view points.
ReplyDeleteI usually use peer assessment in assessing short concepts. Team division in class and cross questioning among the team's is done. Or I post the Question on board the team that gives the first response get the point. Students are also free to Question other team. A worksheet evaluation amongst students is also practised in my class since students enthusiastically catch up the mistakes of other students. Thank you
ReplyDeleteI am a Science teacher. I had conducted Peer Assessment in my Class 10. I conducted a MCQ test and asked students to exchange their sheets with each other. The students enjoyed checking their peer's paper and were very much keen to find mistakes or wrong answers. This helped them to concentrate on correct answers and also remember them easily. Further, they could also get an idea as how to prevent errors.

A better performer can be asked to bring inflorascence and show to other peers and discuss. This will certainly help fellow friends to motivate ,learn, enquire and even draw and practice. This also helps to develop confidence in others and a sort of respect among each other

Teacher has to just design the activity and that will lead to learning ,skill development ,presentation skills,questioning skills ,judgements, unbiased reasoning ,and so on and soforth . In science it promotes healthy discussions . a topic can be discussed in class example class 9 Diversity in living organisms (deleted this year) students will gather a lot of information in the selected topics and present the classes phyla in order with colourful pictures and highlight the fearutres with names in common languages too .Healthy competition sets in and each child tries to do better than the other and assessment by peers holds large esteem in the eyes of the student as it leads to acceptance in peer groups and appreciation

The response of this technique has been amazingly positive. Question answer between all groups presenting, counter questions and responses between the students have been excellent peer assessment technique.

ReplyDeleteActivity based assessment was planned for a topic on Mensuration in Class 8. Some groups came up with good ideas and were fast in doing the activity but some groups lacked coordination and creativity.

ReplyDeleteAs a teacher of Biology, peer group learning has been an effective method of learning. Several topics from class IX to XII have been selected for the purpose. Students make notes and exchange with one another and the peers grade their performance. Students also engage in discussions where their personal queries are dealt with. Students in fact feel free to express themselves among their peers.

ReplyDeleteभाषा विकास के लिए शब्द ज्ञान प्रचुर मात्र में होना जरूरी है| एक भाषा शिक्षिका के भूमिका में मै अपनी कक्षाओ में पठन तथा श्रवण कौशल्य पर आधारित गतिविधिया करवाती हूँ| जैसे कक्षा ६वी से १० वी तक छात्रों को कक्षा के पटसंख्या नुसार समूह में बाटकर उन्हें अपठित गद्यांश सकलित करने के लिए प्रेरित करती हूँ| उनके द्वारा सकलित किए गए गद्यांश को कक्षा में उन्हें सस्वर पठन करने को कहती हूँ| बाक़ी छात्र उसे ध्यान से सुनते है| फिर उस गद्यांश पर आधारित वस्तुनिष्ठ प्रश्न कक्षा में पूछे जाते है जिसका उत्तरे बाकी बच्चे देते है| इस तरह से उनका पठन और श्रवण और आकलन तीनो कौशाक्यों का विकास होकर वार्तालाप करने की प्रतिभा निखर आती है साथ ही आत्मविश्वास भी बढ़ता है|

ReplyDeleteFor an Art integrated assignment ,all students were assigned the same task to represent a cell using naturally available materials. The students presented their work and were assessed based on set criteria by their peers.
ReplyDeletePeer assessment is an excellent and effective way to enhance collaborative learning - a great opportunity for students to learn from each other . This is used regularly in English classes. I ask my children too to assess the speech or reports or news reading of their friends. Project are done in groups/ in pairs and each group/ pair is given a chance to assess other groups/pairs, thus giving them a chance to learn from each other, make corrections and amendments as needed. This promotes healthy competition among the students as they all try to do their best, peers try to appreciate and even point out what can be added/deleted. This enables students to interact with each other and work as a team. This also teaches them values like mutual respect, the need to support each other and accept each other, how to work efficiently in groups, how to engage in positive criticism etc.

Making groups of 3-4 students in a class where a bright student is a leader who will help and assess students of his group in the topic given by the teacher.
ReplyDeleteFor Art integrated project , in Computer Science,students were asked to present the topic with the help of power point presentation. Poll was conducted to find whose presentation was the best. Also peers were assessing it and providing grades.
